Antwerps Open Leercentrum vzw is a spin-off of ArmenTeKort vzw, alongside Kanzo and Woonderwijs.

Although AOLC is still a young organisation, we build on many years of hands-on experience with young people and families in vulnerable situations. Within the ElkKindTelt project, it became clear time and again that a small group of young people, despite the efforts of schools and support services, faces a particularly high risk of leaving the education system without a qualification.

AOLC grew out of that reality. Not as an alternative to schools, but as a complementary service for young people who need a more intensive, flexible and context-sensitive approach.

That's why AOLC is developing a model that extends learning in time and space, focusing on intensive pathways, collaboration with schools and CLBs (student guidance centres), parental involvement, and attention to contextual factors.

From ArmenTeKort, we carry forward a clear DNA: closeness, trust and sustained commitment, combined with measurement, organisational strength, financially responsible practice, and a strong belief in collaboration and partnerships.
